Mission Statement

The IIP strives to bring attention to all areas and sources of conflict around the world, and thus it also hosts projects and activities from all regions, including the Americas, Asia, and within the EU. It aims to bridge the divide between traditional areas of peace and conflict resolution studies, such as nonproliferation and disarmament, and nontraditional areas, including culture, the media, and geopolitics. In particular, the IIP focuses on the EU, American domestic politics, the Korean peninsula, China, and the potential for art and culture as mediating tools for conflict prevention and resolution. The IIP believes that conflicts have diverse roots and causes and adopting a holistic and global approach can provide new insights and potential best practices for ending violent conflict.
